Total FDI: $13.36 billion

Total FDI into Kazakhstan from UK sources between 2005 and 2018 reached $13.36 billion, which demonstrates a sustained interest from UK investors in Kazakh markets.

More than 800 legal entities

More than 800 British legal entities are registered in Kazakhstan. Royal Dutch Shell and Ernst&Young are included in the Council of Foreign Investors under the President of Kazakhstan.

All Party Parliamentary Group

The UK’s All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for Kazakhstan conducts regular visits to Nur-Sultan to promote the exchange of information and best practices between the national parliaments of Kazakhstan and the UK.

English Common Law and AIFC

The Astana International Financial Center is a financial hub in Nur-Sultan and cooperates with the U.K. in fintech, judicial and financial fields to implement world’s best practices in the AIFC. The English Law Summit on 10 April 2019 in Nur-Sultan gathered leading Kazakh and UK legal professionals to discuss English law and opinions, its application to the AIFC and the benefit for businesses.

Education and Cultural Exchange

More than 5,000 students from Kazakhstan are studying at UK universities. Leading Kazakh and British universities established partnership programmes to facilitate student and faculty exchange.
